february is february-ing (except in tempsº)
happy 70º february. here are my goals for this year ^_^
- take more photos with friends!
- give every book i read a thoughtful 3-sentence minimum review
- submit a story to clarkesworld or similar magazine
- go birding regularly & track sightings fastidiously
- invest time in scientific illustration
- spend some time doing studies; anatomy stuff
i need to stop being such a nervous little wuss about pulling my phone/digicam out and taking a selfie. its fun. i want pictures of and with my friends. jesus christ.
[redacted] took a selfie with me last friday as i was drawing giraffes on a piece of printer paper at a potluck and said "i talk about you so much but don't have any photos with you, i had to take one." after they said that i realized i only have like 2 photos of them, and only 1 of us together. i must remedy this.
i want to spend more time publishing the thoughts i have about books because boy do i have a lot of them lol. i also realized that instead of crossposting reviews on here and my storygraph, i can just write them on storygraph and then update my medialog with the books of the month and link the reviews to each one!
i think writing reviews is an art in and of itself and i want to get better at it.
maybe a longterm-er goal because i feel like i need to edit my pieces to death before i could submit them anywhere... scary
gotta break out my new camera sometime!
i'm excited to have an opportunity to really practice this skill with a local natural history museum but i want to get better at it on my own too! i want to do more botanical illustration & draw pictures of the things i see through my microscope.
kind of just in need of doing some serious art studies lately... we'll see :p my comic characters looking a little funky and boneless and i must remedy it asap
bondiaries retrospective
i've been thinking a lot about this site since i've been semi-consistently maintaining it since around nov of 2023(i believe)! the original purpose of the site was to archive the diary comics i used to make (my bondiaries), but i stopped making new fandom/interest related ones and i didn't feel like uploading my personal ones so the content of this site has pivoted.
above are some of my personal goals but i also have some for the site too... not going to make a list though because it's just not as deep. i need to finish my current to-do list (beowulf shrine!), finish a credits page/track down graphics i've been using, make my diary entry template a little more interesting... i'd like to have a "currently" sidebar but i fear i will need to dive deeper into responsiveness for that one and media queries freak me out LOL. i also have to iron out my contrivances page and make a spot for my writing. AND i want to start posting some more involved writing/articles. i'm a yapper and i have an outlet. one must take advantage of the tools available.
also, for posterity, here are the first two iterations of bondiaries. these are now only accessible through the waybackmachine because all my asset links have been broken in my little code editor... i miss my harrygoodsir gifs but i think that my current setup is definitely a lot more conducive to the way i iterate in code.
working on my little website has been one of the most positive hobbies from the last couple of years and i appreciate the community i kinda just.. stumbled upon! i archived my guestbook and it made me feel so grateful for my time on my site. you're all awesome & i am excited for lots more websiting and making friends on neocities dawt org ^_^ stay tuned for more silliness i hope everyone's february 10 is a good one.
bonus: a stylistically bondiaries example excerpted from my funny zoodiary collection:
