hello beloved readers in my computer, happy june! i missed two whole months in a row for my blogs, sorry!!! the end of school was lowkey stressful even though i literally didn’t have very much to do and i also didn’t study for my finals or even finish them actually (guy whose problems are all self-manufactured). i have surprisingly few real plans for this summer but i’m the kind of person who goes nuts without some structure so i’ve been planning projects for myself and i figured i would put them here along with my other updates :-)
i didn’t get either of the jobs i applied for which was frustrating but it’s whatever! i realized that a 40 hour work week would not have been very conducive to my finishing my shortbox comic so maybe it was for the best (affirmations)… i’m hoping to work with my friend doing landscaping in lieu of a full time job which i think could be fun. i don’t mind the manual labor at all, i think it’s probably the only way i reasonably can expect to get exercise because i hate doing meaningless movement activities (hiking my beloathed). i’ve also been toying with the idea of creating a body of work for an exhibition (which i would be working on now if i could find my oils), so i’m hoping that will take up at least some of my time this summer. about to churn out a bunch of weird portraits of my dead cat because i miss him badly!
i’m kind of entertained by the fact that i do so much art and things in the art industry but i have zero plans to ever go into art as a profession in fact i would rather die than do so. my hobby that im somehow doing next to industry professionals. okay lol. i also applied to a zine fest but i don’t have high hopes for that anyways because i applied a day late. i’ll be producing a bunch of zines anyways though and i’ll probably put some up here because i think it’d be fun.
more short term: ART FIGHT! i’m excited for this year because i think it will be the first year in a while that i don’t have something else going on in july so hopefully i’ll be able to do a bunch of attacks this year. barring being extremely behind on my comic ill be free and easy to oc it up :-) if you are my mutual and reading this and also doing artfight let me know so i can add you to my hitlist!! yay! i don’t think i take the prep for the game as seriously as a lot of people i just throw together a few references and call it day so im feeling good lol. unfortunately my ocs are just kind of boring design wise but i know that their personalities sparkle.
i’m hoping to revamp my shortbox page again but i’ve been dragging my feet for whatever reason. i’ve spend the last week and a half working on the actual comic exclusively and i think it’s going pretty well. i shot myself in the foot a little bit by not writing a script since it’s a narrative comic and i don’t know how much sense it’ll actually make since i’m not going off of a script but i’m just going to make my friends & family proofread it until its perfect. fingers crossed. i love drawing peregrine and tochin over and over again though… lights of my life!
i’ll probably be doing lots of site stuff over the summer anyways though, i love maintaining my site and i love yapping about My Topics. once i get to a good place with my comic i’ll start my horticulture studies again as well smiling so wide. and of course reading all my little books. i am 14 books behind on my goal which is stressing me out but im hoping to catch up soon.
