the reason i request that my website not be featured or linked outside of other personal sites is because i find the logic behind these "explore the indie web with me" posts/videos quite bizarre and discomfiting. (for clarification, "other sites" include: tiktok, pinterest, instagram, youtube, bsky, tumblr, etc. not a comprehensive list. don't post my site anywhere.) i think it defeats the purpose of the indie web to create a video or post for others to passively consume the labor of love that these websites are instead of going to explore for themselves. they also seem to operate on the assumption that what the creators of these websites would want is clout or visibility, and neither of those things are appealing to me. i build and maintain my website for myself, not for others, and i'm fine if people link my button on their site and visitors stumble on it that way, but youtube and tiktok users are not an audience i'm interested in attracting. i don't want my site to be paraded around as an example of a part of the internet that is intentionally separate from social media, on social media. it makes me feel like some guy with meta glasses just walked into my house. my effort is not your content ^_^ if you're really committed to featuring my site somewhere or if you have any questions about this rule, please email me at bonbolinoscratch @ gmail.com
